Posted at 15:46h in Impact blogThe Impact Electrical and Security Services team were called out recently by a landlord whose tenants were having problems with a shower that kept tripping. This meant they had to keep resetting – always a sign there’s a problem. Once we took a look we found a horrible mess of cables, worn and pretty dangerous to be honest. The landlord booked in a fuse board change straight away, and a full Electrical Inspection Condition Report (EICR). Ensuring that the electrics in a rental property are safe for tenants to use is now a legal requirement. Failure to have an Electrical Safety Certificate proving that this is the case, can land you with a hefty fine or even a prison sentence. In our experience, most landlords want to comply with the EICR regulation, but often they’re not sure what they need to do. Impact carries out electrical safety checks for landlords in Bedfordshire, so we’re describing what’s required in this blog.
